Activities
Quarterly birthday party celebrations underscore the gift of life for those patients celebrating their birthdays within the quarter. These are organized by the Foundation with the participation of their families, friends, attending physicians and other medical staff.
Special birthday celebrations are offered by individual sponsors who wish to celebrate their own birthdays with the indigent leukemic children. It is experiencing the joy and happiness in these children that makes one appreciate and celebrate life indeed.
Field trips for the Children of L.I.F.E. are sponsored by groups and associations such as Jaycees and Rotary Clubs. Trips to museums, carnivals and parks allow the children to experience the beauty of creation in the midst of their own suffering.
Foundation Day celebrations find the people behind L.I.F.E. coming together to thank God for the healing of patients, particularly those cured during the past year. It is also an occasion to thank the benefactors who lent support to the Foundation the past year. The celebrations are held between July 13, the birthday of L.I.F.E., Inc. Founder Dr. Alendry Caviles, Jr.(+), and July 17, the anniversary of the Foundation.
Christmas parties see all patients of L.I.F.E., their families, friends, attending physicians, and volunteers celebrate Christmas in prayer to the Source of Life, and in sharing laughter from games and other fun-filled activities. These joyous events are held every 2nd Saturday of December.
“Sports for L.I.F.E” is a mini-Olympics event exclusive to the patients and their families. This serves not only to raise funds but also to provide the patients respite from the rigors of chemotherapy.
“Hallmark for L.I.F.E.” is sponsored by Filstar Distributors Corporation to raise funds for the Foundation from the sale of Hallmark greeting cards. This partnership also involves local artists who allow their artwork to be featured in the Hallmark greeting cards.
