Leukemia is more common among children than adults (7:3). Worldwide, it occurs in 3 out of 100,000 persons.

The more common forms are Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myelogeneous Leukemia (AML). With early and sustained therapy over three years, cure rates are 70% and 30%, respectively.

Leukemia is the foremost cancer in the children of the Philippines. It accounts for roughly 1,000 new cases each year.
