Guided by its vision, L.I.F.E. exists to serve two purposes. The first is to assist leukemic children from indigent families achieve remission. The second is to provide optimum care in response to the children’s material, psychosocial, and spiritual needs

The Beginning of L.I.F.E.

In 1994, the doctors of the Hematology Unit of Dr. Fe del Mundo Medical Center were alarmed that poor patients afflicted with leukemia were forced to skip their daily maintenance treatment.

As a result, there were no poor survivors. Dr. Alendry P. Caviles, Jr. rallied the support of his more privileged patients, their families and friends to give poor leukemic children an equal chance to live.

On 17 July 1995, Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (L.I.F.E.), Inc., a non-profit foundation was created and registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission of the Philippines. It aimed to help leukemic children from impoverished families achieve remission and help them physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
